This has been the most difficult year ever to grow garlic. Firstly the soil was not as developed as previous years because it’s been just so dry. We don’t know yet how the garlic is truly impacted. Who knows? it may all be okay and the crop will be perfect. In a way these climatic tests are fascinating….I just wish we could have them with less labour and cost! And of course without the anxiety.
You can see (in the photo on the right ) – that the Cockatoos and Kangaroos have been enjoying the garlic too……It’s horrendous to walk down the rows and see this…..nipped off and the stems left in the furrows. The garlic usually grows back – but it is a setback! Everyone wants our garlic!
